Where did your favorite running shoes come from? 1920 - 1930
In 1920 the Dassler brothers Adolf and Rudolf would open the Dassler Brothers shoe company focusing mainly on track and field. At the Amsterdam Olympics in 1928 their shoes were worn by many of the athletes on the track. When you see Noah Lyles streaking down the track today you can trace what he's wearing all the way back to the 1920's. Much of the relentless attention to detail we see today started in those early days. It's also par of the history that the Dassler Brothers shoe factory was pulled into the war effort (most German companies were pulled in). The made shoes and boots for the military.
Falmouth
Over the weekend we were at the Falmouth Road Race. If you have never been to Cape Cod, it's worth the effort. Falmouth a beautiful and quite seaside village. It has a long stretch of coastline along the Atlantic Ocean and it has a harbor for fishing and pleasure boating. In the August heat it holds a summer classic road race. It's 7 miles point to point. The last mile has a hill that will break your spirits and then a downhill to the finish that will lift them. This year was the 55th running of the race. Falmouth always brings in fast runners and this year was no different.
