Another marathon major, another record. This time in New York City where a record 55,646 finishers cross the line. If you ever have the chance to run this marathon do not pass up the opportunity. If you know someone running it go chear them on. Where some cities around the work reluctantly accept their marathons. The people of NYC and the surronding area embrace this race as their own.
It's an amazing sight to see the many thousands of runners making their way up 5th Avenue. Ahead of them looks like a monster hill. You could put the view they see in the Tour de France and it would look like the monster climbs in france. The fans line the street givin the runners a narrow path to the top of the hill. The scene is probably as loud or louder than those climbs in France.
This is just one mile in this marathon. There are many more miles that are just as loud and just as much fun.
I met a runner the day after the race. It was her first marathon ever. She had run half marathons in the Grand Teton and in Glacier National Park. She ranked her experience in NYC like those only the opposite. Those two half marathons she said were majestic and awe inspiring. NYC broght tears to her eyes.
